As his works are being released while he is still alive, H.P Lovecraft's works were relatively unknown or fell into obscurity for years. His works were unfamiliar until the emergence of horror and science fiction films from the late 60s up to the late 80s. Films such as Alien, The Thing, and Deep Rising have obvious influence on Lovecraft's cosmic horror or fear of the unknown. These films can also serve as loose adaptations of some of his stories like 'At the Mountains of Madness''.

His best stories are compiled in Necronomicon: The Best Weird Tales of H.P Lovecraft. This massive tome is the most accessible for most fans of his stories. Editions printed by Gollancz U.K have larger fonts and have a glossy hardcover with an imposing mock image of Cthulhu.

Howard Phillips Lovecraft's works initially did not have significant popularity among readers for its subtle and nuanced tone. After all, his works were published in pulp fiction magazines where most people read traditional science fiction, noir stories, romance, and even smut. He suffered from various psychological issues and contributed to his nihilistic and dark writing style. Lovecraft's death is very unfortunate because a year before he got his first book published, the 'Shadow Over Innsmouth'.

First edition copies of Shadow Over Innsmouth usually have a hefty price tag. There are only at least 200 copies of Shadow Over Innsmouth. These first edition copies are at least priced at $5000 dollars and highly sought after by book collectors.

Necronomicon: The Best Weird Tales of H.P Lovecraft is an 830-page long masterpiece. The hardcover edition may look bulky and challenging for readers but the way stories are compiled or arranged made it easier to read and made it less of a chore to transition from one short story to another. There is also Gothic-inspired artwork drawn by Les Edwards at the beginning of each chapter.

The Necronomicon's opening short story is Dagon, while the last is The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath. In between these stories are fan favorites such as The Dunwich Horror, At The Mountains of Madness, The Shadow Over Innsmouth, The Colour Out of Space, The Lurking Fear, and even obscure short stories like The Silver Key, Pickman's Model and Cool Air. All of these classics will surely give chills to readers new to H.P Lovecraft and even long time fans. The rating of this short story collection would be 10/10.
